Officials say he drove onto the grade crossing An Iowa man died Saturday when the tractor he was driving was hit by a freight train. The Iowa State Patrol said the man drove the tractor past a grade crossing without attempting to stop.

An Iowa man died Saturday when the tractor he was driving was hit by a freight train. The Iowa State Patrol said the man drove the tractor past a grade crossing without attempting to stop.
Sixty-nine-year-old Dean Banwart was pronounced dead at Kossoth County hospital in West Bend, Iowa.
Authorities say that the train's engineer saw the tractor and tried to stop the train in time, but was unable to avoid the collision.
No members of the train's crew were injured in the accident.
