Two Metro area student-athletes were awarded scholarships at the 35th annual Fellowship of Christian Athletes banquet on Monday night October 13, 2008. Featured speakers at the dinner were former Husker Volleyball All-American Tracy Stalls and UNL Athletic Director Tom Osborne.

The winner of the female Murphy Scholarship is Cassie Leifield, a junior from Plattsmouth who attends Conestoga High School in Murray, Nebraska.

Jordan Consolver, a senior at Benson High School in Omaha is the winner of the male Murphy Scholarship. Consolver will attend Creighton University next fall.

Both students have served as leaders of FCA huddles at their respective schools.

Also honored at the banquet which was held at the Holiday Inn Central were Joel Hueser of Papillion LaVista South as Huddle Coach of the year, and Scott Parson of Arlington High School as Cornerstone winner for his service to students.
