Leaving the Federal Courthouse Kelsey Peterson's family and friends remain silent as they have been throughout the investigation of improper sexual contact - and the Federal case against the former teacher.

James Martin Davis says, "Kelsey is very very glad it's finally over."

Headed to Federal Prison for six years, with good time and credit for time already spent jail - Peterson should get out in a little more than four years.

Her attorney says the punishment is fair.

James Martin Davis says, "She's not a sexual predator that she was really misguided she obviously made mistakes she certainly crossed boundaries and when she crossed those boundaries she violated the criminal laws of the State of Nebraska."

Taking Rodriguez across state lines and into Mexico produced the Federal charges.

Originally Peterson refused to acknowledge what she did was wrong, today she seemed remorseful.

"Kelsey Peterson told the judge she accepts responsibility for her actions and will for the consequences but in the past the defense had maintained that the 12 year old victim in this case, Fernando Rodriguez was the aggressor in the relationship."

Rodriguez's attorney chaffed at that idea, today Amy Peck says Rodriguez has been vindicated.

Amy Peck says, "The allegations were never proven to be true I think that says a lot and all of the hoo-haw about him making up a fake birth certificate you notice that that disappeared."

What hasn't disappeared according to Peck, is the trauma her client went through at the hands of his teacher.
