Omaha police confirmed Sunday that the remains found in Hummel Park on Thursday night are in fact human. An autopsy is being performed in an attempt to determine the cause of death.

A large section of the park remained closed as police continued their investigation at the scene.

Detectives and crime scene technicians spent all of Friday and part of Saturday back at the spot where the remains were found.

Police have been in contact with the family of missing Omaha girl Amber Harris but they say there is nothing at the scene that indicates a connection.

"They talked to us today and said, hopefully, they would have something for us tomorrow," said Melissa Harris, Amber's mother. "So we'll see."
