Three Omahans were wounded in two shootings early Sunday morning. None of their injuries are considered to be serious.

Officers in the area of 65th Avenue and Ames Avenue were monitoring a large crowd at the Claiborne Center when a fight broke out inside at 12:30 a.m., prompting the center to be closed.

Another fight then began in the parking lot and shots were fired. A short time later, 28-year-old Dennis Watkins of Omaha arrived at Immanuel Hospital suffering from a gunshot wound. He told police he was leaving the Claiborne when he was struck by a bullet.

Police were called to 16th and Victor streets around 1:30 a.m. where they found 18-year-old Marcus Short of Omaha with a gunshot wound. He was taken to Creighton University Medical Center.

Minutes later, 20-year-old Terrence Crawford of Omaha walked into CUMC with a gunshot wound. He was also shot at 16th and Victor.

I have no understanding why these people fight. Why they insult each other, why they retaliate from some previous insult, and on and on.
