An argument led to gunfire that injured a boy Saturday night.

Police told WOWT 6 News witnesses said Tramor Davis and a group of teens were arguing near North 28th and Camden avenues just after 8 p.m. That's when Davis went inside, grabbed a shotgun and returned to the porch. Witnesses said he then accidentally dropped the gun, causing it to fire, grazing 11-year-old Moreice Stewart.

A day later, Stewart and his two cousins were back outside playing basketball just feet from where the late night shooting occurred. The three preteens retold WOWT 6 News what happened, saying a group of neighborhood kids started to fight, that's when the preteens went and told parents.

When parents came outside, Davis joined bringing the gun.

"Then once I heard the loud bangs, it startled me a minute. Then the second time when it went off, that's when my heart started racing," said 14 year-old Danny Smith, victim's cousin.

When the gun fired, parts of the shotgun pellet ricocheted..

"It nipped by thumb, hit his leg, and hit the cars over there," said Smith.

Stewart pulled up his pants leg to show the wound; a very thin red line across his calf.

"Not bad it's like a scratch," said Stewart.

But while these preteens shrug the incident off, parents living on the street tell WOWT 6 News that it raises a very serious question: Why was a gun pulled out at all?

"Well he was really stupid for that. Knowing that there was a lot of kids outside standing around, knowing that there was a lot of people," said Smith.

"You don't need weapons, you need words to talk it out," said Stewart.

Thirty-four-year-old Davis was booked for possession of a gun by a prohibited person, making terroristic threats and misdemeanor assault.
