Offutt Air Force Base has been passed over as a potential host for a financial services call center servicing Air Force personnel.

Officials announced Monday that the call center will be located at Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota instead.

Nebraska Senator Ben Nelson said, “On paper, the Omaha area is the home of call centers and is the best location the Air Force could have selected based on the call center community and other infrastructure advantages. This decision seems to have been impacted by politics. Based on the Air Force requirements, Offutt has everything the Air Force is looking for and more."

Nelson called the decision disappointing be he said it does not detract from what he called "Offutt’s status as the premier military installation in the region.”
