Three Whiteclay, Nebraska stores will be able to continue selling beer despite complaints filed by American Indians and others.
The Sheridan County Board of Commissioners passed a resolution Monday automatically renewing liquor licenses for the three stores located in the town of Whiteclay. That is just across the border from South Dakota's Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, where alcohol is banned.
The county commission could have required the three stores to apply with the state Liquor Control Commission to have their licenses renewed.
The commission said no evidence was provided that would have resulted in it making a different decision.
Nebraskans for Peace President Mark Vasina says other complaints against the beer stores are being pursued.
