A 23-year-old college student robbed at gunpoint has an unlikely happy ending.
Allison, who didn’t want to use her last name, shared her story exclusively with Channel Six. She was headed to a Halloween party at 30th and Farnam, but never got the chance to show off her costume.
When Allison got out of her car she saw a heavyset man about 6 feet tall walking in the alley. Seconds later she turned around and that man was just inches away with a gun.
Allison says the man then demanded her purse.
“The gun was actually touching my face. I could feel the cold of the gun. It was real. I could feel it and it was terrifying.”
The 23-year-old gave the robber her purse and he took off. She kept her keys and cell phone in her hands so she was able to call police.
“I just kind of stood here for about ten seconds, cause it didn't feel real, it still doesn't feel real.”
It became real when she got a call she didn't expect.
The call came from the Nebraska Department of Roads. Crews found Allison's purse where I-80 meets I-680. It was filled with most of her things, including her checkbook, driver's license, and credit cards.
While the college student feels lucky to get her belongings back, she hopes it can be a teachable moment for people to be more cautious.
“I was alone and I feel like that was my first mistake was being out by myself especially in alley.”
Allison says she now makes sure to be with someone when she's out at night.
There has not been an arrest made in the robbery. The man did take ten dollars and alcohol Allison planned on bringing to the party.
