Biggest loser

An Omaha man hopes to make the cut for NBC's reality hit show "The Biggest Loser," where he hopes to cut some weight off his 375-pound frame.

Dino Lo Sole says he felt like just another number while waiting in line at the show's open casting call in Omaha two weeks ago.

"Then, when they picked me to come back, I thought, 'Okay. Now I'm going to play this thing and do what I got to do to get on," Lo Sole said.

That meant making a video tape showing life from his point of view.

Lo Sole is part of the Italian family behind Omaha's famous Lo Sole Mio restaurant. He says he knows food but doesn't know "thin."

"Are you kidding? I wouldn't even know what it would be like," he said. "Kids look at me like I'm wearing a Mickey Mouse outfit."

The video will show things like moving around the cooking line at Lo Sole Mio and more serious things like what happened to him a few months back.

"I was having chest pains," he said. "Went to the hospital…was having a heart attack."

He'll find out in a couple of weeks if he made the show, but he's not waiting around for that. He has already lost 40 pounds on his own and he's working on the Lo Sole Mio menu, developing dishes for those like him who want to live life, just not quite so large.

The Biggest Loser's two-hour Valentine special airs Wednesday at 7 p.m. on Channel 6.
