22,197 Attend 1st Game at TD Ameritrade Park

It may be cool. It may be windy. But 22,197 people braved the football-like weather Tuesday night to watch the first game ever played at TD Ameritrade Park -- home of the College World Series.

Gates opened at 3:30pm and many fans continued a Rosenblatt Stadium tradition of tailgating.

Nebraska beat Creighton 2-1.

Those who attended weren't all Creighton and Nebraska fans, some were there to marvel at their work while enjoying the game.

"We put every piece of glass in here," said Joe Camenzind who works for Keystone Glass.

He brought the family to show them where his "office" has been for the past year and 9 months. His daughter approves, "I think it's pretty cool. I can't believe he did this, I guess," said Jocelyn Camenzind.

Brian Sherbine with Drake-Williams Steel was also amazed to see TD Ameritrade Park finished and open for business. He helped make the steel that holds it all together.

"To see all of the different versions of what we're doing, what we're cutting, all the architectural designs as far as how this material is going together. To see it together, fully assembled like this and actually open is fantastic. I think it's very impressive."

Many have been waiting for this day to come, ready to enjoy the finished product.

"Actually being able to come out here and physically stand on something that you helped build, I mean, we do a lot of buildings but this is a little bit different. A lot of this is exposed, so it shows a lot of your work. You know, this is pretty neat," said Sherbine.

The new downtown stadium will play host to the CWS for the next 25-years.

The next game is scheduled for Friday. Creighton will take on Southern Illinois at 6:30 p.m.
