A Missouri man suspected in a Nebraska homicide that's more than two decades old made his initial appearance in an Ord courtroom.
Prosecutors charged 45-year-old John Oldson, of Randolph, Mo., with first-degree murder in the death of 31-year-old Catherine Beard. The waitress' remains were found outside Ord in 1992, about three years after she disappeared.
Valley County Judge Alan Brodbeck revoked Oldson's $1 million bond and ordered that he remain in custody until his preliminary hearing scheduled for March 5.
Prosecutors argued that Oldson may present a threat to the public.
Oldson was arrested last month in Missouri after Nebraska investigators discovered new evidence that pointed to Oldson.
