A family dispute spilled out onto the street in one Omaha neighborhood Sunday evening.

Witnesses tell Channel 6 News a man and his girlfriend were evicted from a home at 14th and U streets by the man's cousin around 6 p.m.

Several people, using brass knuckles and baseball bats, began beating on the car belonging to the man who was evicted.

One person received a minor injury, but refused treatment. No one was arrested, though police are still trying to sort things out.

Sorry Dave, but that is the way it works. A person is a victim of assault and if that person does not want to press charges what is to be done. You see after we make an arrest there is this little thing called a trial. If a victim does not show up and say "the guy over there in the orange jumpsuit punched me" then it didn't happen. DV cases are supposed to be prosecuted even if the victim does not want to cooperate through photos etc., but most times even those are not prosecuted if the victim changes their mind and doesn't want to go to court against their loved one that just beat their a$$. Without a cooperating victim the officers could try and arrest everybody for disorderly conduct, if they were still around.

It should NEVER be an option for someone to file an assault charge. If evidence of an assault is present, the offender(s) should automatically be charged,REGARDLESS of what the other family member says. If not,and an hour later there is another fight and someone dies, somehow that same family will file charges for not being arrested.

Don't blame the cops, blame the morons and their bad behavior. This was a FAMILY dispute. What kind of "family" attacks other family members or their property?

I don't understand what the problem was? How does a person get a police report on it or can they?

Hey John maybe the suspects were not there when the police got there. Maybe the victim didn't want to press charges. But of course somehow it's the cops fault.

I am sure there will be a police brutality case filed soon.

hey john, maybe the victim didnt want to prosecute or was uncooperative. most of the time when the police arrive, no one saw anything or the stories are completely different, so who do you believe.

Thank You God for getting me out of that evil place. Hopefully South Omaha some day will be a better place to live.

No one was arrested, what a shocker. Good work OPD. Destruction of private property isn't a crime? Thanks for the heads up.

An incident without guns? I feel like we're growing.
