Monitoring will begin Monday for West Nile virus in Omaha and the surrounding area.

Once again, the Douglas County Health Department is asking for help in the process. That includes alerting the agency to any dead birds, including blue jays crows and raptors.

Those birds will be tested to see if they have the virus.

The numbers to call are 444-7481 or 444-7489.

The department has already started treating mosquito pools to make sure the bugs don't reproduce.
