The Airline Quality Rating released Monday showed passengers have issues with late arrivals and lost luggage. Some are finding ways to deal with it.

Tuesday brought more headaches for air travelers. American Airlines cancelled 500 flights after the FAA raised more concerns about wire inspections on MD 80 aircraft.

At Eppley Airfield, three out of four arrivals and departures were cancelled. The first flight out Wednesday morning has already been cancelled.

The situation will only add to passenger frustration about overall airline service.

Elizabeth Sloane is a world traveler, but at 82 years old, she admits it's a hassle to lug around baggage. "When I was younger I would carry my things around."

So she went online and found a company dedicated to shipping baggage called Luggage Forward and it works like FedEx, UPS and DHL, dedicated to making traveling as headache-free as possible.

"I would never go any other way and for people who have a lot of luggage sometimes, even more than I do, it's really very handy."

Heavy baggage, like golf clubs, are the most common items shipped through luggage delivery services. It's costly, but it's an investment for some. Rates depend on the weight, distance, and how fast you want it from pick-up to delivery.

The average price of a 65-pound bag with a five-day turn around is $149. It doesn't come cheap, but Lisa Freeburg wouldn't travel any other way.

"People lose their luggage all the time. You hear horror stories about people going to Europe and these beautiful trips that they have planned and they get there and their luggage never makes it. That to me would've absolutely ruined my vacation. I wanted to make sure it didn't happen."

Using a luggage service won't fly for everyone. A suitcase could cost you well over $200 for a one-day turnaround.

Check luggageforward.com for details or luggagefree.com.

This is plain stupid. Just pack lighter. I deployed for combat for 15 months with less gear than most I see taking on a 2 day flight.

American cancelled all three flights from Omaha to Dallas this morning, but I was able to see that on their web site last night and was rebooked through O'Hare (no MD-80 aircrafts) - I wish there was an alternate way to ship me on these trips.

With many of the airlines chargng $50 each way for a second checked bag, as well as the costs and hassle of not having your stuff at the other end, these services are not that much more expensive.
