Bond has been set at $75,000 for a heartland man accused of beating a puppy to death.

Thirty-eight-year-old Anthony Schepis is charged with felony animal abuse.

He claims his four-month-old German Shepard was hit by a car.

Investigators found the animal's body in Schepis' bedroom and they say the injuries were too numerous to be the result of an accident.
