A Kearney teen who survived a horrifying kidnapping nine years ago has spoken with NBC's Dateline about the ordeal.

Anne Sluti was kidnapped from a shopping mall parking lot and held captive for six days before finally being freed in Montana. She recently spoke to Dateline, in a report broadcast Sunday night, about what she endured back in April 2001.

When Anne arrived back in Nebraska a black eye was one sign of the physical assaults she endured at the hands of her kidnapper, Anthony Wright, also known as Anthony Zappa.

Emergency Room pictures show the bruises from her ordeal.

Anne Sluti told Dateline that Zappa would tie, chain and tape her up when they were on the move.

One time he offered to let her go if Anne could free herself from the duct tape he used to bind her wrists and ankles.

She says, "There was a barbed wire fence. I tried to cut the stuff off my wrist with one of the barbs but I, like, cut myself and it didn't work very well."

She says Zappa then tried to burn the duct tape off with a lighter and it burned her arm, leaving a scar.

Anthony Zappa was convicted in 2002 of kidnapping and is serving a life sentence in Kansas.

Anne Sluti continues to pursue her degree in engineering.
