A 16-year-old girl is recovering after being wounded in a drive-by shooting Sunday morning. The alleged gunman was later arrested.
Erika Garcia told police 27-year-old Dusty Merrill drove by and opened fire near South 10th and Bancroft streets around 2:20 a.m. She was taken by private vehicle to Alegent Creighton University Medical Center where she was treated and released.
Officers located Merrill at South 11th and D streets and booked him for first-degree assault, use of a gun to commit a felony and possession of a gun by a prohibited person.
Merrill is a convicted robber who was released on parole two years ago.
