An Iowa prisoner serving a 50-year sentence for Second-Degree Murder is on the loose after he failed to return from work-release in Des Moines.

State corrections officials say 30-year-old Sam Henry Archer failed to return from a job Saturday night. He was placed on escape status early Sunday morning.

He was transferred to the Fort Des Moines Work Release Facility on February 11th.

A corrections department spokesman says a national warrant for Archer's arrest has been issued.

Archer is described as white, six-feet tall and 215 pounds. He has brown hair, hazel eyes and tattoos on both arms.
