The Nebraska State Patrol seized $1 million worth of cocaine Thursday afternoon during a traffic stop on Interstate 80 near Grand Island.

A trooper stopped the driver of a Lincoln Navigator with Colorado plates around 2:30 p.m. Thursday for driving on the shoulder of the road and following too closely.

The driver gave the trooper permission to search the vehicle. An NSP K-9's nose led to 45 pounds of cocaine packaged in 18 heat-wrapped cellophane packages in the vehicle's gas tank.

The driver and his two passengers were arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver.

They're identified as 26-year-old Ricardo Perales, 21-year-old Silvino Michel and 21-year-old Jessica Servin, all from Chino, California.

The cocaine has a street value estimated at $1,000,000.

Investigators believe the drugs were being transported from the west coast to Chicago.
