Child Struck By Car Outside Omaha Day Care Dies
A 2-year-old critically injured when hit by a car outside of an Omaha day care facility Wednesday afternoon later died at Creighton University Medical Center.
Maxmiliano Delgado-Morales was the toddler who died after being hit by a 1998 Chevy S10 pickup.
The accident happened at the Next Generation Child Care near 36th and Madison just after 3:30 p.m. A mother stopped to pick up her children from the day care when her 2-year-old son ran into 36th Street. Police say he was hit by a pickup and drug for a short distance. The boy was taken to the hospital shortly after that, and the driver came back to the scene.
Christopher Dean has owned the Next Generation Child Care Center for 12 years, and says he's grieving for the boy and his family.
"They started here (at the daycare) Tuesday; they're a brand new family. It's a sad deal," Dean explained. "It's terrible."
Police say speed was not a factor in the incident. The driver of the pickup has not been charged with a crime but authorities say, if any, it will be determined after the investigation.
