13 Year Old Can't Go Home

A 13 year old boy is not allowed to go home. A juvenile court judge orders him placed with his grandparents. Last year when 12 years old, the boy attempted to molest six boys in the same neighborhood.

Seven parents from the neighborhood attended a disposition hearing in juvenile court. The father of two boys assaulted told the 13 year old," We forgive you." But the father then added in court, "Forgiveness does not mean we stop being vigilant and protective of our kids" The father told the judge his son are afraid of the old boy being in the neighborhood. Though not trying to keep the boy from his family the father said, 'We're trying to protect our own from further harm."

Juvenile Court judge Christopher Kelly told the 13 year old boy, "Other Children are hurting because of you." You need to change what's going on inside of you to cause this behavior."

Judge Kelly ordered the 13 year old to stay out of the neighborhood. He's placed under supervision of his grandparents at their home. While on probation the boy will wear an ankle monitor and undergo continued treatment in the RSafe program.

The guardian ad litem appointed to assess the boy and his home, Chris Costantakos said, "Neighbors and the neighborhood can take some measure of comfort that every reasonable alternative is being explored so this doesn't happen again. She praise the 13 year old's parents and grandparents for creating a strong foundation for rehabilitation.

The judge will review the boy's status in six months and consider then if he can go back home.
