Nebraska Governor Dave Heineman has accepted applications from 12 people who have an interest in an open seat in the Nebraska legislature. The District 2 seat became open in August after Sen. Dave Pankonin of Louisville submitted his resignation.

Heineman will appoint a new state senator once he goes through the applications. Those who have applied include: Robert Apprich, Robert Cooper, R. Paul Lambert, Peggy Moore, Gregg Rhoades and Annette Wiles of Plattsmouth; Jerry Bond, Avoca; Craig Buescher, South Bend; Doug Koozer, Eagle, Richard Krystof, Springfield; Robyn Larson, Weeping Water and Ron Nolte from Murray.
