A 1-year-old boy allegedly abducted by his cousin Friday morning in Lincoln has been found safe.
He was located at the Target store at North 48th and O streets shortly after 11 a.m. An Amber Alert was issued just minutes earlier because authorities believed Kharim Moreira was in danger.
Police say 20-year-old Nathaniel Gonzalez took Moreira from his mother's apartment at South 46th and Stockwell streets just after 9 a.m. Gonzalez was taken into custody at Target and faces charges of kidnapping and felony theft.
A tip prompted police to check the store where they found a vehicle matching the one that had been connected to the boy's disappearance. An officer flattened the vehicle's tires before other officers found the pair inside the store.
"The child is safe and okay and probably being reunited with his mother as we speak," said LPD Sgt. Don Scheinost.
Police say when Gonzalez showed up at his cousin's apartment, he made delusional statements, indicating Kharim was his son. Gonzalez then grabbed the child and ran from the residence. The boy's mother ran after them, screaming for help.
