An 83-year-old man has been killed in a collision on U.S. Highway 136 in southeast Nebraska.

The accident occurred on New Year's Eve about a mile and a half from Crab Orchard.

The Johnson County Sheriff's Office says Kenneth Stinson, of Tecumseh, was headed west when his sport utility vehicle was struck by an eastbound minivan that had crossed the center line.

Stinson was pronounced dead at the scene. The sheriff's office says the other driver, 29-year-old Kristin Helmink, was taken to a Lincoln hospital.

The accident is being investigated.
