The Food and Drug Administration is warning against giving antihistamine with the ingredient promethazine hydochrloride to children younger than two.

The medication has been linked to significant breathing problems and seven deaths.

Here's what to look for: The ingredient is also known as promethazine HCI. The brand name is Phenergan but it's also used in various generic versions.

Parents and doctors are being advised to use care when giving the drug to children older than two.

The drug, approved in 1951, is used to treat hay fever, stuffy or runny nose due to allergies and other minor allergies.
