A quiet Northwest Omaha neighborhood is dealing with a series of burglaries. The latest victim slept through a break-in that left his family shaken and neighbors on edge.
There were more than a dozen burglary reports just east of Steve Lefeber's home in the area around the Knolls Golf Course earlier this year.
Now it appears the suspects have moved to the back nine of the golf course. "You really don't feel safe in your own home and that's not a good feeling," said Lefeber.
Lefeber and his family were sleeping upstairs in their home just south of the golf course when thieves broke into a sunroom and the family's basement.
"The police think they pulled down the common area and went two houses down so they could turn around and leave their truck here and get a running start," said Lefeber.
Nobody got a good look at the suspect or the vehicle so if you live in the area north and west of I-680 and Maple make sure you lock all of your doors, leave outside lights on and report any suspicious behavior. There have been nearly two dozen reported burglaries since the beginning of the year.
