Jeffery Peterson admits he's a bit of a homebody.

"Very rarely do I do anything that early in the morning," said Peterson.

But on the first of the month, he decided to go out and get breakfast. When he got home, he walked up to the door to go inside. "When I stuck my key in, and turned it. It didn't feel right," said Peterson.

He opened the door and noticed something else. "I notice the TV was off," said Peterson. Before he left, he said he left the TV for his dog.

At this moment, "It just it hit me like a ton of bricks.Ya know, like oh man, someone has been in here," said Peterson.

He said his bedroom was the worst.

"Everything was tore apart, top to bottom inside out," said Peterson.

Jewelry and other personal items were taken. Peterson said he couldn't believe it happened in broad day light and that it happened in less than an hour.

Even days later, he is still trying to get past being burglarized.

"Why me, I was like, what little I had, I lost and I will never be able to replace it," said Peterson.

He just hopes the evidence the crooks left behind, like a crowbar, is enough for police to make an arrest.
