Elderly Veteran's Surveillance Video Captures Burglars

Albert Topping is a Korean War Vet, a retired contractor, and really one of the nicest people you will meet.

At 77 years young, this retired veteran is still very handy.

He's also cautious. Cameras and locks protect his home on 33rd and Evans St, but all that still didn't stop burglars earlier this month. He was robbed March 15th.

"They busted this open, crawled inside here and unlocked the door," said Topping as he pulls on the glass window of his truck.

Surveillance camera's show three men stealing a new lawn mower and tools from inside his truck.

After the truck, the crooks went to his backyard shed. It was bolted shut with a lock, but that didn't stop them. The guys pried into the old wood and popped the lock completely off.

Inside the shed they grabbed whatever they could get their hands on; which mostly consisted of tools.

"I don't want to exaggerate or anything, but I would say around 5 thousand," said Topping when asked to estimate how much he lost.

Topping hopes his home surveillance video will help the police with the investigation. He wants these burglars arrested and prosecuted.

If you have any information on the crime, please call Omaha Crime Stoppers at 402-444-7867.

Topping is also providing an additional a reward to any tips that lead to an arrest.
