The Zumba Room

Does exercise always seem like a chore -- something you have to do but never want to do? Something called Zumba may change that. The Latin-inspired class is definitely a workout but it seems more like an hour in a dance club.

Certified fitness trainer Lori Johnson gets people moving with Zumba at Prairie Life Center. It's a different way of working out.

"We want people to have fun," she says. "It doesn't always have to be boot camp, and weight training, and step class. We want them to come and have fun and join the party."

Participants groove their way to a great workout. Zumba moves engage core muscles.

Jennfier Westphal teaches dance, so this class seemed perfect.

"The treadmill gets monotonous after a while," Jennifer said. "In the wintertime, you just need a great alternative option."

No dancing experience is required, but Mila O'Rourke warns: be prepared to sweat.

Mila says, "It's definitely a workout. We just did it for a half-hour and I'm drenched. It's great for your legs and your abs."

Zumba moves change with every class. Prairie Life plans to offer it several times a week.
