MADISON, Wis. - UNO senior goaltender John Faulkner has been named the WCHA's Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season.

Faulkner backstopped both UNO wins at Bemidji State last weekend, posting a 2.00 goals-against average and a .917 save percentage. On Friday, he made 22 saves and allowed three goals in a 5-3 win against the Beavers. The next night, he stopped 22 of 23 shots in a 2-1 win that gave UNO its first-ever WCHA series sweep over BSU.

The weekend marked the fourth time this year and the 12th time in his career that he has backstopped both ends of a sweep. He is now 13-4-2 this season with a .737 winning percentage that ranks fifth in the country and second in the WCHA. He has 51 career wins, just two from tying Dan Ellis for the school wins record.
