NU Women Blank South Dakota State In Exhibition Opener
A pair of underclassmen carried the Huskers as sophomore Samantha Areman and freshman Caroline Flynn each scored in a 2-0 win over the South Dakota State Jackrabbits Friday night in Brookings.

A pair of underclassmen carried the Huskers as sophomore Samantha Areman and freshman Caroline Flynn each scored in a 2-0 win over the South Dakota State Jackrabbits Friday night in Brookings.

NU goalie Emma Stevens faced just two shots on goal.

With neither team able to get its offense going in the first half, the squads were locked in a 0-0 tie after 45 minutes of play. In the first half, the Huskers took seven shots and the Jackrabbits got off three shots.

The Huskers quickly took the lead coming out of the break as Flynn scored on a rebound in front of the net at the 48:42 mark.

Nebraska held onto its lead with strong defense and added an insurance tally with Areman’s goal at 70:07. The Huskers out-shot the Jackrabbits 18-6 and produced nine corner kicks to SDSU’s one.
