"Good First Day" For Huskers
Pelini On Fall Camp's First Practice
The Huskers took the practice field for the first time Saturday morning as they prepare for the 2012 season.
Head coach Bo Pelini said he liked what the team showed him during the opening practice. “We had a good first day out there. I liked the tempo and I thought it was a good first day, it is what it was. Obviously the older guys are way ahead of the younger guys, but everyone out on the field got significant reps and the young guys got their feet wet.”
One of the main topics covered in Pelini’s session with the media was the difficulties of selecting a 105-man roster for fall camp. “It’s not easy selecting the 105, we have a lot of kids. There is a lot that goes into who we select, but at the end of the day we bring the guys that can help us out the most on offense, defense and special teams."
Pelini also talked about the importance of the mental aspect of the game. “Every day the mental part of the game is as important as the physical part of the game. We talk to our guys about competing every day in practice." Pelini also noted that Ryan Klachko is no longer on the team, having decided to transfer.
The Huskers hold their second practice of fall camp on Sunday.
