49 Swimmers Headed to London Olympics

Now that the swim trials are over in Omaha, USA Swimming named the complete roster for the 2012 U.S. Olympic swim team. In addition to the 49 athletes named to the team, the swim team’s coaching staff was finalized.

The men’s Olympic swim team consists of Nathan Adrian, Ricky Berens, Clark Burckle, Tyler Clary, Conor Dwyer, Anthony Ervin, Jimmy Feigen, Matt Grevers, Brendan Hansen, Charlie Houchin, Cullen Jones, Jason Lezak, Ryan Lochte, Tyler McGill, Matt McLean, Alex Meyer, Michael Phelps, Eric Shanteau, Davis Tarwater, Nick Thoman, Peter Vanderkaay, Scott Weltz, Connor Jaeger and Andrew Gemmell.

The women’s swim team features Cammile Adams, Alyssa Anderson, Haley Anderson, Elizabeth Beisel, Rachel Bootsma, Natalie Coughlin, Claire Donahue, Missy Franklin, Jessica Hardy, Kathleen Hersey, Kara Lynn Joyce, Ariana Kukors, Breeja Larson, Micah Lawrence, Katie Ledecky, Caitlin Leverenz, Lia Neal, Lauren Perdue, Allison Schmitt, Rebecca Soni, Chloe Sutton, Dana Vollmer, Shannon Vreeland, Amanda Weir, Kate Ziegler.

The men’s Olympic team coaching staff will consist of head coach Gregg Troy and assistant coaches Bob Bowman, David Marsh and Eddie Reese.

The women’s coaching staff includes women’s head coach Teri McKeever, and assistant coaches Dave Salo, Todd Schmitz and Steve Bultman. The head open water coach for the U.S. Team will be Tim Murphy.

On Saturday, July 7, the entire U.S. Olympic swim team will head to Knoxville, Tenn., for the team’s domestic training camp prior to its departure to the Olympic Games in London.

The Olympic pool competition will take place July 28 to August 4 at the London Aquatic Centre.

The women’s and men’s 10K Olympic marathon swim will take place on Aug. 9 and 10, respectively, at the Serpentine at Hyde Park in London.
