Missouri State swept a Senior Day doubleheader from Creighton, 1-0 and 13-11, Saturday afternoon in Omaha.
The Bears scored an unearned run in the fifth inning of game one and pitcher Natalie Rose took care of the rest.
Stevie Pierce singled and was replaced by pinch-runner Ciara Flau, who took second when Raeven Replogle's sacrifice bunt was bobbled. Another sacrifice bunt by Kirstin Cutter moved runners to second and third with two outs. After a walk to Ashley Brentz loaded the bases, Flau scored on Caitlin Chapin's sacrifice fly to center.
Rose (16-14), a preseason all-Valley choice, won her fifth-straight 1-0 decision, allowing six hits, striking out 10 while walking one. It was her eighth shutout of the season. Becca Changstrom (16-13) allowed just two hits, striking out six and walking four.
The Bluejays fell behind 5-0 in game two before even batting. Missouri State’s Lauren Eisenreich, daughter of former major leaguer Jim Eisenreich, hit a two-run homer, her first of the season.
CU then scored five runs in the bottom of the first, one in the second and three in the third, two coming on back-to-back blasts from Bri Lingl and Blair Lowe, to take a 9-5 lead.
MSU fought back with three runs in the fifth as Eisenreich launched her second homer to trim CU's lead to 9-8. The Bluejays went up 11-8 in the sixth. Alexis Cantu hit a two-run homer, her league-leading 15th of the season.
The first seven Bears reached safely in the seventh inning. Two walks started the five-run rally and MSU followed with two doubles and three singles.
With the losses, Creighton fell to 26-24-1 and 14-11 in conference play, locking up the No. 5 seed in next week's Missouri Valley Conference Tournament.
Missouri State improved to 24-24, 12-13 in league play. The Bears will defend their 2011 MVC Tournament title as the No. 6 seed.
