Illinois State managed to score eight runs on just two hits in shutting down Creighton 8-0 Sunday afternoon in Normal.
Creighton had the bases loaded with nobody out in the third, but ISU pitcher Jordan Birch (20-12) struck out Alexis Cantu, Amy Baker and Bri Lingl to end the threat.
Nichelle Harrison hit her first career homer in the fourth, a three-run shot for a 3-0 Redbird lead. ISU ended the game with five runs in the fifth inning, taking advantage of four walks by relief pitchers Sammy Snygg and Brittany Telecky. ISU's final four runs came courtesy of a bases-loaded error and three bases-loaded walks.
Becca Changstrom (16-12) took the loss despite surrendering just one hit (Harrison's home run) in four innings. Cantu, who had reached base in 28-straight games, went 0-for-3 to snap her streak.
Illinois State won its seventh-straight and improved to 32-20 (17-7 MVC) while the Jays lost their third-straight to fall to 26-22-1 (14-9 MVC).
