Wily Peralta tossed seven solid innings and was backed by a pair of three-run homers as Nashville subdued Omaha, 8-5, Tuesday night in the second of a four-game set at Greer Stadium. The Storm Chasers fell to 17-9 after a season-high third straight loss and to 2-4 on their current eight-game road trip. Nashville entered the game with the lowest team batting average in the league and had also scored the fewest runs, collected the fewest hits and totaled the least amount of home runs of any team in the Pacific Coast League.

Trailing 8-3 entering the ninth and having been held without a hit since the fourth inning, the Storm Chasers got consecutive run-scoring singles from David Lough and Tony Abreu to slice the lead to three. However, Kevin Kouzmanoff and pinch-hitter Anthony Seratelli were retired by Mike McClendon to end the game and seal the Sounds third straight win.

The Chasers jumped on Peralta for two runs in the first inning on a run-producing double by Johnny Giavotella and a ground ball double play off the bat of Max Ramirez with the bases loaded. Nashville got one of the runs back in the home half on Erick Almonte's fielder's choice grounder and then took the lead for good in the second.

Omaha starter Will Smith struck out Edwin Maysonet with a runner at third for the second out but then hit Logan Schafer to keep the inning going and that proved to be costly when Brooks Conrad followed with a blast to left field, his second in as many nights in the series and third against the Chasers this year, to move the hosts in front, 4-2.

Clint Robinson delivered a two-out, RBI double in the third that brought the Chasers within 4-3 but Peralta was able to settle down and really dominate over his final four innings, allowing just one hit and retiring the last 10 batters he faced. The right-hander allowed five hits, walked two and struck out eight to earn the victory.

Smith was removed after five frames during which he yielded four runs on seven hits while walking one and fanning five to absorb the loss. Jeremy Jeffress worked a scoreless sixth inning but was lifted in favor of Brandon Sisk after a single and a walk to start the seventh. The southpaw got one out before Sean Halton smashed a long ball to left to lengthen the Nashville lead to 7-3.

The series continues Wednesday afternoon with left-hander Everett Teaford making his first start of the season for Omaha against Nashville right-hander Brian Baker. Coverage of the game gets underway at 11:45 am and can be heard locally on AM 1180 and online at omahastormchasers.com.
