Creighton Tennis Coach Wins Number 300
The Creighton men's tennis team swept through play on Thursday with Nebraska Omaha, winning the match 7-0 at the Hanscom Indoor Tennis Center. It marked the ninth win of the season for the Bluejays (9-7), but also marked the 300th win of head coach Tom Lilly's career.

OMAHA, Neb. - The Creighton men's tennis team swept through play on Thursday with Nebraska Omaha, winning the match 7-0 at the Hanscom Indoor Tennis Center. It marked the ninth win of the season for the Bluejays (9-7), but also marked the 300th win of head coach Tom Lilly's career.

Creighton won all three doubles matches, taking the automatic lead into singles play. Kyle Obermeier and J.T. Christian defeated Carlos Ramos and Peter Greteman 8-1 at the No. 1 doubles. Ryan Norman and Sean Mathison downed Connor Larson and Anthony Forcucci 8-5 at the No. 2 doubles and Billy Paluch and Gabe Nagy closed out play with an 8-4 win over Nathan Greteman and Ben Williams in the No. 3 spot.

Singles play was controlled by the Bluejays, who won in straight sets in the first five finishes of the day. Paluch shutout Ramos 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 1 singles, followed by Christian defeating Anthony Forcucci 6-2, 6-3 at the No. 2 singles.

Obermeier and Mathison both won the middle matches by surrendering just five games each. Obermeier defeated Connor Larson 6-1, 6-4, while Mathison flipped the scores and defeated Peter Greteman 6-4, 6-1. Nagy then downed Ben Williams 6-3, 6-1.

In the final match of the day, the No. 6 singles, Bluejay senior Joe Nora defeated Nathan Greteman after dropping the first set 1-6. Nora came back to win the second set 6-4, ousting Greteman 10-7 in the third-set tiebreaker.

The men's team returns to the court on Saturday, hosting Southern Illinois at 1:00 pm. The final regular season match for the men's tennis team will be Sunday, April 22, when the Jays host Wichita State.
