After Gun Scare, Charges Dismissed Against Bellevue Teen

He was arrested after bringing a realistic-looking Airsoft gun to his high school. Monday, a judge decided there was not enough evidence to charge a Bellevue teenager with a felony.

Court records show charges of Terroristic Threats and Tampering with Evidence were dismissed by Sarpy County Judge Robert Wester Monday evening.

Prosecutors tell Channel Six that doesn't mean the teenager is off the hook.

Sarpy County Attorney Lee Polikov says his office more than likely will charge the 16-year-old with a misdemeanor.

The teen's Airsoft gun shut down Bellevue East High School in early February.

The building was evacuated after someone thought the young man was carrying a real handgun.

"It's not over," Polikov told Channel Six News. "We will consider other options."

A conviction on misdemeanor charges can carry up to a year in jail.
