Assault behind bars may keep prisoner there for a longer time.

Scott Tingelhoff, Saunders County Attorney, reports Jeffrey Guern was charged with Assault by a Confined Person, a class IIIA Felony, which has a maximum sentence of up to 5 years imprisonment. He is scheduled to appear in the Saunders County Court for a Preliminary Hearing on February 14, 2013 at 9:00 a.m.

A deputy with the Saunders County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to the Saunders County Jail to investigate an assault by an inmate on another inmate. After speaking to witnesses and watching the video of the incident the officer issued a citation to Jeffrey Guern for assault of a confined person.
