Nebraska Attorney General Jon Bruning has submitted his "wish list" to state senators.
A bill that would separate voluntary manslaughter with involuntary manslaughter by making two distinct offenses. He says the current law does not provide separate penalties for intentionally taking someone's life versus doing it unintentionally.
Another proposal makes it a criminal offense to either disarm or attempt to disarm an officer while performing his or her duty. Right now, someone who does that could be charged with resisting arrest or obstructing an officer, which is only a misdemeanor. This measure would make it a felony.
