A section of the Keystone Trail will be closed to hikers and bikers beginning Monday, but should reopen before the end of the week.
Crews will be pouring cement on the section between 72nd and Pacific and Dodge streets. Parts of the trail are showing their age and the damage from maintenance trucks over the years. Several of the sidewalk panels need to be replaced.
For trail users like Chris Schmid, the work shouldn’t be too much of a problem. "It shouldn’t be, I can just cut across this way. It’s been shutdown before and it wasn’t an inconvenience, the safety is what you want on the trail."
Officials estimate they’ll pour around 1,000 square feet of cement to replace the broken concrete. The trail should reopen on Thursday.
