It can't be easy to make off with two massive Caterpillar Skid Steers, especially along a busy stretch of interstate, but that's exactly what somebody managed to do.
Investigators with the Pottawattamie County Sheriff's Department said sometime in the past week, thieves made away with the equipment from a roadside ditch off I-29 north of Council Bluffs.
Next Phase Environmental owns the Skid Steers and had been contracted to remove dead trees for the state of Iowa. The company has offered a $7,500 reward for information leading to an arrest, a conviction and equipment recovery.
Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's office at (712) 890-2200 or (712) 328-7867.
