Lincoln police are investigating a theft spree that happened in just days mostly in neighborhoods near 27th and A streets and Coddington and Van Dorn.
According to police, a woman came home around 6 a.m. Wednesday and discovered her home near 26th and Garfield had been ransacked. She told police her cabinets were open and things were out of place.
Then she reportedly heard the sound of glass breaking in the basement. She never saw the burglar, who apparently escaped through the broken window. She said two others were sleeping while the burglar was inside. Taken were $300, an iPod and an air pistol.
As officers started investigating, similar reports started coming in. "Throughout day officers discovered numerous other thefts in the area," said Lincoln Police Officer Katie Flood. "Sixteen larceny from vehicles and three other burglaries. Things taken from garages. It's as high a number of a spree this summer than I can recall."
Police don't have any suspects and are asking residents to come forward if they remember seeing anything suspicious Wednesday night. No one was hurt in any of the incidents.
