Sarpy County Crimestoppers is turning to the public for help to solve two similar crimes. In one case people in three vehicles end up showing up at a gas station to "fill up" using stolen debit cards.

It all started June 28th, when a woman had her purse stolen while she was working in the area of Galvin Road North and Tulip Lane. Her personal debit card and the business debit card were both stolen and quickly used to buy fireworks in Bellevue.

Then the debit cards were used again to fill up gas in three vehicles at the north Omaha Cubby's. You will see a white minivan, a gray or silver minivan, and a small black SUV. At one point, a woman in one of those vans went into the store at 42nd & Redman Avenue.

Sarpy County Crimestoppers hopes you can identify her, so they can find who else was there for the free gas.

“Yes, the victims in these cases had inadvertently left their property out in the open while somebody could see it. That's unfortunate. But the fact that people are taking advantage of that and stealing their property and using it to buy something like fireworks, and also to purchase gas, that's just not right,” said Detective Fran Gallo.

Detective Gallo is working on a second similar case. In that one, an employee at Ashley Lynn's in Bellevue had her wallet stolen. A credit card that was in the purse was used to purchase $240 in fireworks in Bellevue.

“It looked like it was kind of set up, like they had someone come in and tan and on camera they looked behind the counter and took my wallet so it looked set up,” said Rachel Wajda.
