An additional assault charge has been filed against the man accused of stabbing a Bennington mother when he became combative with officers prior to his court hearing two days later.
The Douglas County Corrections officers were trying to put Jason Billingsley in a restraint chair when he became combative on Wednesday morning. Both men suffered minor injuries. For that incident, Billingsley faces the additional charge of assault.
The woman who was stabbed in the back last Monday while walking with her two children, Amy Phillips, has been released from the hospital.
Billingsley was arraigned for two felonies, a charge of second-degree assault and use of a weapon to commit a felony. He's accused of stabbing Phillips after she refused to give him a ride and he threatened her 3-year-old son.
Billingsley's bond was set at $500,000 on Wednesday. He shouted at the judge the entire time she read him his rights.
