The Omaha Police Department is taking part in a nationwide “Click It or Ticket” campaign starting Monday, May 21st, 2012 to go through the Sunday 3 June 2012.

The Nebraska Office of Highway Safety has awarded $22,472.93 to fund extra officers on the streets enforcing Nebraska’s seat-belt and child restraint laws.

Operations began Monday, May 21st and will run through Sunday June 3rd, 2012 at various dates and times throughout the entire city.

The goal of the “Click It or Ticket” campaign is to increase the awareness of the State of Nebraska’s seat-belt and child restraint laws while increasing the percentage of drivers who comply with these laws.

The Omaha Police Department wants to alert the public that wearing a seat-belt is the best way to reduce your chances of death or serious bodily injury should you be involved in a motor vehicle collision.
