Bruning Looking For Last Minute Votes
Nebraska Republicans are heading to the polls Tuesday to decide the winner of the state's hotly contested U.S. Senate primary.
Candidates have spent the past week canvassing the state and working the phones in a final push for votes in Tuesday's GOP primary.
The race with Nebraska Attorney General Jon Bruning, state Sen. Deb Fischer and Treasurer Don Stenberg has become one of the most high-profile nationally as Republicans seek to pick up the seat and propel them toward controlling the Democratic-led Senate.
All three are hoping to replace U.S. Sen. Ben Nelson, a two-term Democrat who is retiring after this year. The winner of Tuesday's primary is expected to face former Democratic U.S. Sen. Bob Kerrey, who is looking to return to the Senate after a 12-year hiatus.
