Police may have to dig deep to find out just how an Omaha man was assaulted on Saturday night. They say the victim was highly intoxicated and could have been feeding them a line as to where it happened.
Officers were called to Bergan Mercy Hospital just after 2:30 Sunday morning on a report of a cutting.
When they got there, 26-year-old Michael Elliott told them he was involved in a fight with a suspect in the parking lot of an Omaha bar.
Elliott told police he was in the bar parking lot and confronted the suspect after he allegedly whistled at Elliott's girlfriend. He went on to say at one point, the suspect, described as a man wearing a white T-shirt, pulled out a knife and assaulted Elliott.
When police arrived at the bar parking lot, they were unable to locate a scene. Elliott's injuries are not life threatening.
