It's called being accountable for one's actions. When you are given the prevlege to drive, you become accountable for how you operate a motor vehicle. Driving while panicked is just as dangerous as driving while drunk. And Kerry, get real, drop the race card.

It wasn't an accident; it was a crash caused by negligent driving, or even reckless driving, blowing through stop signs. An accident is when you're driving along, have a blowout and crash, or when a deer runs out in front of you and you hit it.

Good comment. I TOTALLY AGREE.

She deserves what she gets out of this. You can't drive crazy like that just because someone is in the hospital. She could have killed an innocent person like you, me or my 6 week old baby.

Hey folks! You are forgetting 1 thing..she wasn't wearing a seatbelt! How many times in the news we have heard people killed by not wearing a seatbelt? MANY times! When is, not only the people but the law going to weight that into any charges from deaths due to not wearing seat belts...the baby sitter took her life and her babies life into her own hands by not wearing a seatbelt when she knew the mother was distraught.

Yes, this was a tragic accident. She did not set out to kill this woman and her unborn child. With that said, the charges are warranted. She broke the law by speeding and running two stop signs. Regardless of her mental state at the time, her reckless behavior caused the Death of not one, but two people.

Speaking of convictions, this woman has not been convicted either. What are you talking about?

While I'll agree that she was acting irresponsible, reckless, and selfishly, I don't think she should go to jail. She killed the godmother of her children. I'm sure she will be plagued by guilt the rest of her life. Sending her to jail won't bring back her friend. It will just cause another family to be destroyed.

1 yr or 1000$ for killing a pregnant woman...pretty pathetic. I would revoke her license among other things for being such a ignorant moron. This kind of thing makes me so mad!

She should have never been driving. She made the choice and now she will have to pay the price and live with what she's done. For those that say it was an "accident"...no it wasn't...it was a choice. Her child was not critical, she didn't make sure her passenger was belted in. What if she would have mowed over your child in her 50-60 MPH dash to the hospital...would you feel the same!

She was driving well above the posted speed limit and ran not one but two stop signs. She deserves to be punished and she is lucky only person is dead because of her actions.

Rightfully so!

Just so you know the outcome, the wealthy white lady in that case used her financial resources to pay for a great legal defense, and she was not convicted.

Well, I was waiting for the race card to be thrown. I was not let down. I am sick of it. She killed someone unnecessarily and the baby this young lady was carrying. White, black, pink,,or blue...it does not matter. She killed someone. She deserves jail time...does not matter the color of her skin. If this had been a white lady killing a black lady, you all would be crying fowl. Move on...she is guilty...do the time.
